King,Queen,Princess and a Slave

One night while reading a book, Tomato point to the letter 'Q' and said q is for queen!

I was feeding Cookie milk,so to interact with her, I asked are you a queen or a princess?  She said :mmmm, a princess!

Me : How about mommy?Is mommy a Queen or a Princess?

Tomato : Queen!(* I must have looked smugged here)

Me : how about daddy?A King or a Slave?

Tomato : Slave!

Me : *eyes widen followed by a burst of laughter*

Oink : *-__________-|||*

I decided to try again because you know kids sometime just pick the latter choice when u ask them questions with choices.

Me : is daddy a slave or a king?

Tomato : Slave!

Lollllllllllll!! Cannot help it but burst again while trying hard not to shake too much ( was carrying Cookie).

Oink obviously couldn't accept it and lay face down on the bed pretending to be sad.lollll. And afterwards he asked again : Ask you again,Daddy is a slave or a king??!

Tomato : Slave! *followed by her giggles and then she jumped onto Oink's back and pretend she's riding a horse.lol!!

Oink : aiyokkkk!Call me a slave still jump on me!

Me : That is what slaves are for.lollllll

I can't remember exactly when, but while in the car, heading home, I asked my no.1 (Tomato), what have she been doing at Yi Yi's (the nanny) house. She said play (her usual answer).

Me : 有哭哭吗？ （Did you cry?)
Tomato : 没有ler, 没有哭哭。(No ler,  I didn't cry)
Me : 真的吗？？姨姨讲你一点一点就哭。 （Really? Cos yi yi mentioned to me you cry over petty things)
Tomato : 我没有哭哭！我笑笑 (I didn't cry, I smile) * and turns over to look at me and smiled*

Sometimes to con her to sleep *ahem*, I will show her some short clips about animals  on youtube. That night, I think we were watching a clip on elephants I think. But kids being kids, its never enough for them, and she saw a clip on spiders at the side menu when the clip ended. And demanded to watch it.

Me : Yucks!!!Comok 你要看spider??? (Yucks!!!! why do you want to watch spider????)
Tomato :我要看Yucks!!!我要看Yucks!!! (I want to watch YUCKS!!!I WANT TO WATCH YUCKSS!!)

This happened last night.

me : What do you think we should name your sibling?
Tomato : CHAI S## B##
Oink & Me : *@@!!!* WHAT??
Oink : Your sibling's sirname should be SIM, not CHAI, ok?

LOL *Note : CHAI S## B## is her best friend's name at school.

Bye-bye Chut chut!

We call pacifier Chut Chut (pronounced as choot choot).  It has been a worry for me because Tomato seem so addicted to it. We need to bring it out for outings, she can demand for it anytime anywhere. Deny her that, she will throw a tantrum.

But as fate have it, on the night of her 3rd birthday, she somehow misplaced her chut chut and we all can't find it. So she has to go to sleep without it. And oh boy, it was a loooonnngg night. She kept mumbled and whined in her sleep for it.

Daddy Oink found it the next day, and she was in such a bad mood after school, she cried the whole way from school to Grandma's house. Oink later cut the chut chut and give her, she was pacified but somehow may be the feel is different already and Oink told her now its broken, worms can go in 'x'. That trick somehow worked. And she pulled it out voluntarily. And said she doesn't want it anymore.

For that day onwards, her addiction to chut chut dropped significantly. The first few nights, she sometime wake up around 3am-4am, and will whine for it, and then remembered about the "worms" and stopped whine about it and go back to sleep.

And I am proud to say, for 11 days, she is chut-chut free! :)

眼睛关， 脚直直

Tomato was coughing whole night and can't sleep well after we got back from KL. So i let her skip school and I stayed at home to take care of her. 

That morning, before I went to shower, I told her to play by herself. Then I saw her petting her doll's head. The sort of like "poking the eyes" and I heard her say : "眼睛关", the she run her hands through the legs and said "脚直直". :D That's what I have been saying to her at night when she refuse to sleep. She used it on her doll. I certainly didn't POKE her eyes, just so you know, and before u accuse me of child abuse.

 

And after my shower, this is what I saw. AHAHA, lately she likes to arrange her toys. Only the doll is technically hers. The others are my gifts. Teddy bear is my first bear from my dad. Mom cleaned it, and patched the nose back. So its a bit crooked.

My Pre-K princess

So, my girl has started schooling this year. She will turn 3 anyway by may. We thought it will be a great idea to expose her school environment and to better prepare her for kindy. Besides, its much better than watching cartoons at nanny's.

So when she started school, it didn't go as expected. You can read my ordeal here.

Now, 3 mths after, things has been good. She finishes her bento almost everyday *beaming with pride*. And, she's suddenly improved a lot on her speech, her pronunciation has gotten much much better. She can sing so many songs nowadays, some new songs she learned from school. And last night she did the school's cheer. She also don't get sick as often as before now. Things has been looking good. :)

When asked if she likes to go school, she will say she likes it, when asked what she did at school, she said “吃东西” what the !!! AHAHAHA, and proceed to tell you what she ate. Anyway, its good to know she enjoyed what we prepared for her. We try to prepare different things everyday. I try to include fruits into her bento. Be it strawberries (her fav), grapes, apple slice or pear slice. She put on her own socks and shoes everyday. *SMUG*

Since she has been singing a lot, she tries to delay her bed time by SINGING!!! Among her favourites are ABC song, Twinkle twinkle little star and 我的朋友在那里？Most of the time, I will be asleep before her 'x' So nowadays, I don't play songs on the phone anymore for the baby in my belly since jie jie will sing every night. And baby will be kicking in the belly as response. :)

3 mths before she turns 3, she now knows how to command me to keep her messy toys for her. I do not know whether I should laugh or cry.

I love you

I have been greeting Tomato good nights before sleeping followed by I love you. She has been doing the the same back to me.


Last night (3rd Feb 2015), she suddenly called me "Mommy..." So I turned my head facing her. She put her little hand on my cheek and said "I love you" awwwwww... My heart melted and I said I love you too. And a tear escaped from my left eye. Moments like this makes your forget all the troubles your little one gave you..AHAHAHHA

Dear God, please give me more patience & strength!

I have been feeling under the weather lately. Being plagued with coughs and then towards the end, I was infected by flu through Tomato.

Tomato has started her pre-K not long ago. We enrolled her at a nearby Kindy for the convenience. Its like 3 mins drive away from home.

Everyday when we pass by the school, she will sweetly say "Mommy, I want to go to skoo". Then I will tell her soon baby, soon. So the day finally came, she can't wake up -______________________-. I had to pull her up from bed and get her ready in a rush! I was nervous! Anyway, after much effort, we manage to get her ready. And she seem ok, no crying, curios-ly checking out the place. I left her there after half an hour of accompanying her 'x'

First week went by quite well. No crying, no fuss. Only cried when going to nanny after lunch (almost everyday).That is until she got sick. She got flu suddenly. So I took a day off to take care of her.  After that, everything went downhill. She started to throw tantrums over petty things. Phone rings upsets her, ask her to eat upsets her, change tv channel upsets her, change clothes upsets her, bath time upsets her. Its like my sweet cute girl went to school, got cloned, and what came back to us is a little monster. And did i mention the mood swings? One minute she is jolly, agree to do something, the next 5 secs, she can change her mind, and throw a fit about it. We are at our wits end. What is the matter? What the h**l is wrong? She won't tell, all she does is cry and cry, scratching her head, eyes swollen with all the crying, tears an snot , and saliva all over her face.We can only have our peace when she's asleep.

Experienced friends have told us, its will pass in a few weeks. Its like that. Its normal. Oh really, dear God, please give me the strength and patience to go through this.

It made me understand more about why it could happen. Has something happened at school?Is she feeling stressful? Have I sent her to school too early? Is she unhappy about the change of routine? It could be because either one of it or ALL. SIGHHH....I will just have to keep observing and monitor and see how it goes from here.

Tomato's progress at 2.5 years old

I am so proud of my girl. She now can button up her own PJ. Even though its taking longer when she does it herself. She has always been interested to do the buttons herself, but we always help her with it. Sometimes I would left one for her to try.  Once, I remember, after her night bath, she insisted on buttoning herself. She ran to a corner on the bed and sat there, and I told Oink let her be. Lets see how long will she try it. For about 30 minutes she sat there, trying and focusing so hard on that one button. After much sweating, she DID IT! You should have seen the look of satisfaction on her face. She was sweating, her bang was wet and sticking on her forehead. But she looked so satisfied, like she has won the olympics. And I was so proud too, just like my kid had won the oylmpics : D. What made me so happy was how she didn't give up. Its not the result that is important, its the process of getting there. And last night, she manage to do 4 buttons (all the buttons on her PJ) BY HERSELF, in 15 minutes!

Another interesting thing happened the other night. She was sitting on her daddy's lap, when she farted. And it smells. She covered her nose, and sat there for a while, seem to be thinking about something. She then suddenly jumped down, waver one hand behind her while turning her head back to her daddy, and say "hmpmpphh!! daddy 放屁！臭臭!" AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! She farted herself and so pandai and accused other people of doing it.

My tomato is now 2 year, 5 mths old.

We have enrolled her for school (Pre-K). She seem excited about school. I wonder when she really goes to school, will she change her mind? hmm.

How time flies *SOB*..LOL

Potty Training

In preparation for school, I speed up her potty training. Our mission to train her was a hit and miss. She at first very willing to use potty, but that is also out of interest for new things. After that she refuse to use it :-s Although the teachers at school did mention that they will help us potty train our kids, i still feel uncomfortable about the whole idea. 2 mths ago, she does not go to the potty willing, keep say  "不要！" or run away. She seem to prefer to do it on her diaper. I was worried. So then I started to take off her diaper every other morning and make her sit on the potty 'x'. I told nanny about how I train her. So she also started to train her. Sure there are times when she got too excited at playing until forgot to go to potty for her business. But now, I am proud to say, most of the time, she will tell you she needs to go. We keep her potty inside the toilet, hoping she will do it inside, but she now carries it out every time she needs to go, and put it in front of the TV :-s. We still put diaper on her during her nap and sleeping time though. And if we go out, I also let her wear diaper just in case. And now, even though she is wearing diaper during day time, she will tell you when she needs to go, and can take off pants and diaper by herself, and you will find her diaper is dry. :-) However, if we are at kopitiam, I don't dare to let her use the toilet, you know la how 'clean' is our malaysian public toilet. I will tell her its ok to pee on diaper.

Colouring

Recently introduced her to colouring. Just as a healthy past time (better than keep watching TV). She can't colour well yet, but at least she enjoys it. And she the first colour she learned to say out, was green colour, I do not know how and why she can remember green the most. Green is my favourite colour beside white and pink.

Food Intake

She has grown to be quite a picky eater. When she is younger, she will willingly try new things.  Now? *sighhh* she also doesn't eat as much as before.

Counting

She can count 1-20 in English. But still to work on the pronunciation.

Weight & Height

She is 13.2 kg, and 90 cm tall.

Simple Happy Things

I bet you have them. If you don't, you must be a grumpy, bitter person 'x'

I get happy at simple things. Like buying a great item at discounted price. Like eating a delicious meal. Like eating ice-cream. Like a call or a hi from a friend.

Like eating hot piping rice with crispy luncheon meat. But now that I have a kid, I get happy with her eating what I cooked, giving me nods of approval (literally), finishing the whole bowl of soup. I didn't get less happy even when my rice got cold when I ate it with luncheon meat (didn't give her luncheon meat, lied to her telling her its spicy.. LOL...I did cook other dishes FYI)

I get proud and happy when she can utter new word, or short phrases. I get happy when she is happy.

ah, Tomato, you gave mommy so much joy and happiness. :)

Grow Baby Grow ( 2+ years old)

Tomato is now about 2 year 2 mths old.

Height, about 90cm ( she moves alot), hard to get her measurement.

Weight, about 12.8 kg (together with clothes and diaper)

She drinks less milk now compared to when she's younger, mostly about 5-6 oz (when she was around 1 yrs old, she could drink 8oz) . And she loves milo now.

Compared to when she was younger, she eats less now, because she is more interested in playing (and the tablet, sighhhh) and she is more picky nowadays. But then, she still likes vegetables.

I prepare her breakfast and cook her lunch everyday to bring to nanny's.Usually its soup with rice. Sometimes porridge, and sometimes stir fried pasta. And my mum will stir-fry some vegetable for her, which will be in a separate container and covered when its cooled down. I can't put the vege inside my magic cooker, as it will turn yellow.

eg of Lunch : soup (can't remember what soup, from the look of it, I think its fish soup with tomatoes and onion 'x') + rice (cooked with millet) + stir fried vege

I sometimes also add mix quinoa into her rice.

Weight= approx 12 kg
Height= approx 90 cm

The little monkey is 2 now.  She is VERY active, and VERY talkative, and with VERY SHORT attention span (except when playing with our phones or tablet). She can ask you to play a dvd for 5 mins, then said she want to watch another :/

We took leave to celebrate her birthday with her. I cooked longevity noodle with drumstick, eggs, date, mushroom for her and also for me and Daddy Oink.

Then after that we took her to Molly fantasy@CityOne. She had so much fun, we had a hard time getting her to leave 'x' LOL

After that we had lunch at Fork and Knife, which I think was mediocre and the service is not so good.

After that we send her to the nanny for her nap, while we adult go back to GSC@CityOne for a movie date. :D We watched X Men and it was awesome, well, at least to me 'x'

At night, we had family dinner Rock Road Seafood.

Mission fail!

In the previous post, I boasted about how Tomato went to sleep without her pacifier.

After 3 days, the last night  she cried and cried for it every few hours  which makes us the parents sleep deprived. In the end, we gave in 'x'!!!!

That's also because she somehow accepted and adapted to the new set of pacifier. So its not entirely our fault also *whistles*

Anyway, lately I have potty training her. My mom has been nagging me for the longest time to let her poo & pee in a potty, but I insisted to wait since I saw online its better to wait till 2 years old.

Anyway, one day I decided to try. She was soo easy. I took of her pants and diaper, pointed to the potty and told her to go ngk ngk (poo). She dutifully walked over and sat on the potty while I went to shower. I was just starting to shower when she whined n poke at her butt. And my response was "huh?so quick??Done already?" Anyway, I let her sat longer there, and only went over to check after I have done showering (Shower finished sooner than usual just because I was too curious 'x').

And lo behold! POO IN THE POTTY! I was soooo proud 'x' and kept praising Tomato.. gee, didn't know can be so happy over some shit 'x' AHHAHA.. I was so happy I even took a photo 'x' and I will share it here! You can stop reading here if you don't want to see it. Don't say I didn't warn you. Will give some space before the photo. HAAHAHA.

Anyway, it has been hit and miss until now, some days she just refuse to sit on the potty. Some days I missed  the timing and she had already poo in her diaper. I don't think she has the patient to sit on the potty for too long. Hmmm.

ANYWAY, lemme warn you again..poo photo after this . Stop scrolling now if you don't want to see poo/ are eating 'x'

TADDDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

22 feb 2014,sleep without chut chut (pacifer)

Tomato loves her chut - chut.she cant sleep without it. The thing is,her chut chut already worn out,yellow and stained. So i bought her new ones. But she hated it :/ so i decided tonight she have to start using the new one or none at all. She made a fuss. Behaved like an addict. Stubbornly refused the new pacifier. So oink said,lets wean her off pacifier then. So she cried n wailed for like half an hour. Till she tak tahan and fell asleep.lol. So that's how her first night without pacifier went. Will try again tonight. But then,i can't help to feel sad that my little girl is growing up too fast. It may sound funny,but i'll miss her sucking pacifier look. No longer a baby.

Oh...Shoot...(Oh Shit!)

lately Tomato has been saying "Oh! Shoot..." when she dropped something, or tripped.

Lucky thing she can't really pronounce well yet, cos I know she is actually saying "Oh Shit!"

That's because I say it all the time 'x' and she must have picked it up from me. OOOPPSSSSSS

Got to watch what I say nowadays 'x'

Up to no good

Tomato is very naughty nowadays.Always up to no good.

Today she got hold of a brand new piece of sanitary pad and dunked it into the toilet. -____________-

And not long after, she took out a brand new ru yi oil, unfastened the cap and pour the content on the bed and bed frame.-_______________- I came out running from the toilet when I smell ru yi oil but it was too late.

Anyway, I took out some toilet paper and showed her how to wipe the bed frame, which she do willingly and diligently. Lol. And after that she listened to me when I asked her to throw the stained paper into the bin.

You grabbed my foot

Out of the many many warm memories I have with tomato, this one never fail to put a smile on my face. :-)

Tomato has started to use her hands to grab things. She is always an early riser. On this particular morning, we were still in zzz land.I was having a dream.Should be a pleasant dream though I can't remember much, when I felt something touched my right pinky toe.I woke up in shock, to find my darling daughter, lying on her belly, hand out-stretched and she chuckled happily when she saw that I have waken.

Ahh..life's simple pleasure.my daughter is so cheeky at a very young age. *smiles*

People come, people go

This is a rather sad post.

2 of the half day kids at my Tomato's nanny is going to Primary 1 next year. And they might not be coming to the the nanny's place any more.

This morning, I had a short conversation with Big Piggy, in which she started.

Big Piggy : After xmas, I won't be coming any more. I will miss everyone :(

Big Piggy : I manage to take aunty's(me) photo (actually she curi-curi snap a photo of me with her tablet), Tomato, Little Piggy,  Baby, but didn't manage to take photos of Miss Notty and Ah Boy. I am sad.

All I could say was : You can come on Saturday then can take their photo liao..

I felt sad, all these kids grew up too fast. I feel a bit sad that I might not see this talkative Big Piggy any more.

Maybe I will develop photos taken on Tomato's birthday and give it to her as memorabilia.

The Birthday Girl

Meant to post this months ago. But heeee....I was occupied with (*insert excuses*).  Well, better late than never.Anyway.. my princess had her birthday earlier on a weekend, not on her actual birthday, when most people can make it. We surveyed a few places and settled for Yun Yan Restaurant, Stutong. The price was reasonable, its near from home and its spacious enough. They (Yun Yan) surprised me by setting up the place nicely with balloons and fake flowers(LOL). It was a private event, where most of the guests are families. We only invited our close friends.

Future SIL and my BIL helped to set up the stage. Nice? I designed the banner and Oink printed it out in his office. Selina helped to order the Teddy bear cake. It turned out better than I expected. In case you are wondering, the cake is from Bake and Chilled.  I wrapped all the kids' gifts with teddy wear plastic bags that I procured from Daiso. Enlarge the photo to look at the cute bags. KEKEKE.

Tomato, you were sick at that time, And boy, your mood was not at its best. And worse, you had runny nose. My poor baby. First photo with Nelly, but you were not in the mood to make friends. Sigh...oh well~

You looked so cute in this photo my dear Tomato. The whole night, you were clingy and not in much mood to smile. You only want to be carried or run up and down the stage        -________________-

To make the red eggs "laku" <-popular, I printed a small note. Red= Huat ah, so if you want to Huat ah, faster take one egg!!..LOL. Btw, I wrapped the egg basket myself. Nice bor? The note must have worked, cos by the end of the night, we only left a few eggs. I've been to parties where LOTS of eggs was left. What a waste. In case you haven't noticed, the birthday was teddy-bear-themed since Tomato loves bear bear :->. Selina made the mini chocolate cup cakes which was so moist and yummy despite the plain look, and also the agar-agar. THANKS SELINA!! I <3 u..LOL! 'x'

Finally a photo of you, Tomato. Happy Birthday My love! Mommy & Daddy loves you very very much. Hope next year we can take lots of photos of you smiling on your birthday :-))
