I am sick and tired

which is true...

because I have been coughing for more than a week now. Why oh why that it seem that my sickness is getting more n more difficult to heal as I grow? I miss a lot of good food you know?

I miss eating spicy chicken wings, i miss mcd's fries, I miss ice cream, I miss nasi lemak...sighhhhhhhhhh

and the last time when I thought I am almost recovered, I went binging on all those forbidden food I cannot have when coughing. And ended up with more coughing!

I would wake up suddenly at nights, and cough like hell! And it feels difficult for me to breathe after I cough, and my tears just flowed n flowed when I cough like that. And on Wednesday night, I coughed till vomited :(

very sad la, when will I get back to normal?

Ho Chin Minh Day 3

*** WARNING: IF your name is FELICIA THEN, DON'T READ THIS POST, cos I posted up a photo of something you will be terrified off, don't say I didn't warn you..AHAHAH***

Our activity for today is mainly on Mekong river. We had a ride on one of these boats while viewing what little is left of their floating market.

Look at this, they practically live on their boat.

I started to notice there's "eyes" on the boats. Can you see it?

We then stopped somewhere along the river to this little village, where they made some local products.

Here you can see how the rice paper is made. My tour guide is by her side explaining the process.

My guide call this "rice popcorn"..AHHAHA.

It tasted AWESOME when I plucked some of hot ones out from the tray after they erm "stir-fry" it. Its actually just like the "bee pang" we have here back home.

They have these bottles of snake wine lined up. And they are giving away free samples. In which I told my dad of, and "encouraged" him to go and try it out 'x'

This is him, before drinking. Saying "cheers"

This is after. AHHAHAA. The expression is PRICELESS.

In the itinerary, its stated that we will need to ride bicycles to our lunch place. I thought that it will be a piece of cake for me since I can ride very well. Expecting it to be mountain bikes. BOY, how I WAS WRONG! THIS IS VIETNAM! They had these black bicycles, with NON-ADJUSTABLE seats, no gear, I think they are from the war times. No photo of it, cos all the taller peoples have left, even the Caucasian teenager is taller than me! WHY OH WHY am I not taller? I should follow my mum! She left riding on a motorcycle. I was the last one cos I was looking around for a bike that I can climb up to. But they all have the same height! I then resorted to SLAPPING on the seat, hoping to make it go lower. FAILED! My dad is yelling at me, asking me to keep up or I will get lost, so guess what did I do?I jump on the bike, and ride on. We soon reach a bridge that is going upwards, and guess what? I pedaled and pedaled and JUST can't go up. So I need to jump down again, and walk over the bridge. My dad is losing his patience and yelling for me to keep up. I was last to arrive at the restaurant, I had to ride my bike onto the wall to stop 'x', the girl working in the restaurant even CHUCKLED, I bet she can ride that antique without any trouble.HMPH.

This is what they call an elephant fish.

Some veges and herbs, I didn't touch any of the herbs. This is suppose to be wrapped together with the fish and sauce in the rice paper sheets.

my pork and vege lunch. The pork is SOOO nice. It reminded me of satay.

After lunch, we had some free time. So I just lie around on a hammock and look at the photos I took.

We were then brought by our guide further into the village.

where we would have another boat ride.

This is Suani, and we are on the same boat. He is also sitting next to me in the tour bus. He is quite funny, for all those questions in English that I asked, he will just nod and say yes if he don't understand even though its a why or how questions. HAHAHA!

This is our young "Gondolier". AHAHAH. Suani kept flirting with her.

It was a pleasant ride. Relaxing, where we look at the village houses by the river.

That's all. We then went back to the hotel with our bus, and most of us were so tired that we slept through the way back.

Clean Up Day

Oink and I clean & tidy the house every fortnight. And Mango doesn't like it. Why?

Because its noisy with all the loud sound made by the vacuum. She is a bit afraid of the vacuum, always running away when its near. Sometime she pretends she's cool with it. And runs away, when its 1 cm away from her. AHAHHA. My dog is funny! But I love her so.

That day when we clean up the house, I caught her in this very sad state.

AHAHAHA! this Mango so very the cute. I guess she felt safer there, anything can just jump down to the car porch.

IF ONLY!!

if only I am not so eager to get home early..

if only I am more alert..

If only I was not so deeply in thought about tomorrow's plan..

if only I look to the left just before I make that turning..

my wukui won't be like this!!

BOOOOHOOOOHOOOOO! my poor wukui!

When I turn left, I didn't notice there's a bike on my left, just a bit behind me, I turned and BAM! It hit the left side passenger door. I turned my head to the sound, and its like in slow motion, I saw the motorcyclist and his passenger fall to their left before the driver manage to balance with his left foot and hold onto his motorbike.

My first word was SH*T! Never was I in such a situation. What should I DO? My first thought was to call Oink, but I seem to froze, my eyes keep checking on the 2 motorcyclists to see if they are ok. They seem ok, but the rider was a bit angry and yelled something at me. Cars behind me honked. I am paralyzed, numb, but still manage to signal "I AM SORRY" Its a miracle that the guy didn't demand me to come down and demand for some sort of compensation. He signaled for me to go ahead. So I left, still signing "I AM SORRY" with my left hand.

I parked my car in front of the house gate and proceeded to SMS Oink, I didn't know why I didn't call. My heart was still pounding.

and its still pounding now..:(

btw, tomorrow I am going back to Belaga, to visit my grandma.

I left office happy, but now sad and shocked..booohooohooo

*update : Oink is back, and he said my damages seem to be more to the back instead of the front, and he asked me did I put on signal, I remember I did, I always do. He said should be the motorcyclist's fault, which I think back, it could be true.I was halfway into the junction liao when the motorcycle hit my wukui, and I did put on signal, he should have looked also. WTH, I still let him yell at me and I still signaled sorry...I am a bit angry now la. My poor wukui! Anyway, his motorcycle was very old liao. NO wonder he is so "kind" ask me to go without asking me to compensate what-so-ever..GRRR..angry lah! This is my first time in such a situation, never mind, next time I'll know.

zap zap zap..

I don't know about you, sometimes I wish I could teleport from one place to another. You know kinda like in the guy in the movie "Jumper" but minus the impact of the "jumping"

There's no need to buy a car. Saves money 'x'. No need pay for petrol. Yippee. By the way, there will an increase of petrol price on 1st September,
so i guess alot of people will spend their merdeka day queuing to buy the cheaper petrol 'x'

I can be anywhere I want to be. *zap* Japan *zap* now Paris *zap* *zap* *zap*
There's no need for airplanes and no need susah-susah to try to buy those FREE seats air tickets.

You don't waste time stuck in a f**ck*** jam. Although the jam here is not as bad as KL or even Bangkok, but still a jam is a jam. And I hate the jam.
Especially when driving home from work. How nice if I could do this : 5.30pm. Pack. *ZAP*. Home sweet home, watching 6pm singaporean series. AHHHH, how nice it would be.

You can escape anytime. When terserempak the last person you wished to see on earth *zap* you are away from him/ her.

*zap zap zap* I wish I am in my bed now, so sleepy..zzz..*zap zap zap* still at work..CISSSSSSSSSS

Mango's meal

We don't let Mango eat simply anything. Most of the time, we make sure what she eats is not oily, not too salty, and definitely no chocolate or candy for her. But sometimes I sneaked her some chips, or nuts when Oink is not looking. :-p We are lucky that Mango is not picky, she eats everything, even bitter gourd (Oink and I don't eat :-p)!

Mango eats 2 meals a day. In the morning, she will have her dog biscuit. On weekdays' evenings, when she is at my parents', Mum usually boil chicken meat, to be mixed with rice for her dinner. And when she's here, I will prepare her dinner. Usually its chicken also. Sometime I include in carrot/ potato, which she love. She can eat raw carrot like a rabbit! Mango also need balanced diet ma, like us human. So that she will always be healthy. A healthy dog, is a happy dog :)

This is what she had yesterday evening..

first, I chopped the carrot into small cubes.

I include in some finely chopped garlic. The reason I include in garlic is because I read online, this can ward off fleas as her blood won't smell sweet anymore. Once I let her eat some pumpkin, and that very day, she was covered with fleas! Mum and I was so shocked! poor mango..its my fault :(, the pumpkin is sweet, maybe that's why the fleas attacked her. I don't want to bath her with some chemical laden flea shampoo, so I researched online and found this effective method. Till now, I found no flea at all on Mango.

Sliced chicken meat. I seasoned them with some soy sauce and some chicken stock powder. That's all.

Mix them all up. Steam for 10 minutes. When its cooked, I let it cool off first. Don't let it get cold, serve it when its still a bit warm.

Ready!

Mango enjoying her dinner, outside..AHAHA..I make her eat outside because she always make a mess on the floor when eating.

Ho Chin Minh - Day 2

Before I talked about day 2. I want to talk about my dad 'x'

The night before, we went to this western style restaurant for dinner. The area we are staying are the backpackers area. So there's a lot ang mo. And thus got ang mo restaurant. I was famished, so I ordered pasta. Then my dad, of all the choices and selections, ordered MALAYSIAN CHAR KUEH TIAW. =.="

Then hor, don't know what type of meat they put in, my dad woke up the next day with gout pain on his hand.

So he became grumpy 'x'. And I have to carry everything myself. The water, the biscuit in case my dad grew hungry and grumpy 'x'.He gets hungry quite easily. And when he's hungry, he's grumpy.HAHA.

Anyway, we booked a half day tour to Cu Chi tunnel. Its a network of tunnels dug by the vietnamese ppl during war. And is later used in the war with the US Army. And the US army, never get to win any battle in the tunnel area. Its too complicated, the tunnel is also too small for the bigger built ang mo.Should be something like that, I can't really remember.

This is our tour guide of the day, "Mr. Bean" @ Billy. He was a US navy before. Yes, a Vietnamese working for the US Army during the war. He was born in US, or so he claimed. And later move back to Vietnam. Anyway, he was explaining about the tunnels. And there's this documentary showing, filmed during war time. Its in black and white and I find it a bit boring 'x'

Mr Bean told us, in order to track the Viet Cong better, they brought in a lot of dogs. But as the days goes by, they notice the dogs are getting lesser and lesser. They found out the Viet Congs catch them, and eat them 'x'.

either that, or they end up here.

Dead. Poor dogs.

This is the sniper hole. There will a VC hiding inside, when a US soldier pass by, he will just pop up and shoot. Mr Bean told us, the day before, a very big Caucasian lady went down in that hole, but later on cannot seem to come out, she was stuck, so they had to pull and pull. They finally manage to pull her up, without all her clothing below her waistline 'x'.

The Viet Congs dug tunnels to the US Army base to steal their weapons. I think that's very clever of them, using the enemy's weapon to fight back.

There's a few mannequins dressed in military attire here and there. And of course we took photos with them. Thats when I notice the wig, or should I sat the hair. Looks soo much like real hair!

Footwear made from tyre. They claim its very durable. Felt tempted to buy one pair for Oink. His sandals never last long.

We then proceeded to the shooting range area. Here is the place where you can buy bullets and shoot from AK47, and other types of guns, I can only remember AK47. HEHE.
If I am not mistaken, 10 AK47 bullets cost 22,000 VND each. Minimum purchase is 10 bullets. My dad say he would try if his hand was not painful. I was not even interested. I hated the shooting sound. It sounded awful, it sounded like killing, it sounded like death. So I bought a can of cola, look for a seat and relax.

We then moved to the one section of the tunnel which is open for the public. A 40m tunnel. Small and very dark. We didn't even had torch light. Its soo small, I had to bend over and walk, with a big heavy bag on my back. I have to bend my knees also to make sure the stuff in my bag don't get squashed. Didn't manage to take any photo, cos dad keep urging me to go faster, or else we will be separated from the group. Don't know why he's so worried, the tunnel is only one way bah.. every now and then, there's a hole, a "pit stop" for you to get out to get some air. I stopped at every one of them. Its so dark inside, we have to feel with our hands so that we won't bump onto anything. Anyway, I gave up half way and trace my exit based on the holes in the ground. AHHAA..

Mr Bean, explaining how these trap works. DEADLY MAN. I had goosebumps then and there.

Soon the half day tour ends.We got back to the guest house. Mum and dad wanted to nap. So they napped while I watch TV.

They woke up like 2 hours ++ later, and we took taxi to go Saigon Duty Free Shop. Only to find its closed after 5pm!! BAHHHH!!HOW CAN? should open till night ma.

We went to watch water puppet show later that night. Nothing to shout about but quite interesting. If only I could understand the dialogs. Its all in Vietnamese.

ok, this is a random photo. I saw a wedding going on, so I snapped a photo. There's another wedding going on at the hotel next to this one also. I think its a good day to marry in Vietnam on the 6th April, since its their holiday. I saw a lot weddings on the way to Cu Chi at the villages. But back at home here, its "Qing Ming"

Ho Chin Minh - day 1

A very belated post..hehe

I am truly busy with stuff. There's alot to juggle.Beside the computer I am using now SUCKS. SO SLOW. Feel like buying a new one 'x'

anyway..lets proceed to Ho Chin Minh now shall we?

I got one thing to say about the place.

ITS HOT! SO HOT! I 'tidak tahan'! Alot motorbikes. And a lot noise pollution cos all the cars, bikes keep sounding the horn. I think that's how they communicate 'x'

After we checked into our guesthouse. We changed and proceed with Taxi to the war museum. Only to find it closed and only open at 1.30pm. So we walk around, since I've checked the map, all the major attractions are within walking distance. Then we saw the reunification palace, only to find it closed too..GRRRR, and will only open at 1.30pm also. SO i suggest we walk to the church they say look like Notre Dame in Paris.

not bad, quite pretty the architecture. I like! But then still very hot.

Then we saw a nice building nearby.

We saw a lot of people inside. Thinking its a market, we just go in. And its too hot to stay long outside too. It took me awhile to realize what this building is. Can you guess what it is?

Its a post office! So nice one! Ok, for those who guess it correctly don't get a prize 'x'

Dad immediately grew excited when he found out its a post office. He after all, spent most of his working life in one. And no, my dad was not a postman. 'x'

so we hang out there and soon its 1.30pm. So we walk back to the reunification palace.

Doesn't look very palace-grand-like to me. In case you don't know, you need to go through the scanner-machinery-thingy like in the airport, before you can go into the palace compound. And one of the guard complimentedme, say I am pretty, in CHINESE! WAHAHA, he has good taste..memang I am pretty 'x' *muka tembok*

basically visitors to the palace are shown the various rooms available in the palace. The usuals, the dining rooms, YES ROOMS, got more than one dining room, and they all looked grand, like in hotel 'x', living rooms, meeting rooms, library, bedrooms, the bedrooms seem common to me, nothing fancy, they even have a small cinema.

I want these mahjong tiles. so retro!

We hang out a bit at the palace, cos it started to rain heavily. But then its STILL HOT lo!

After that we proceed to the War Museum.

Once you step into the museum, you will see various types of tanks and jets and such. I am not very interested in such stuff. I hate the war. But my dad always watch these war movies. So he was quite curious in everything.

Look at him..ahaha..look like a kid.

ok, this is one of the prison cells in which they kept the prisoners. THIS IS NOT A REAL HUMAN ok! Whoever made this made it eerily same to the real man who was kept prisoner here for decades. What caught my attention is the scribblings in Chinese characters on the wall.

I briefly translate it here :

*clear throats*

although I am in a prison,
but my spirit is not,
in order to achieve a big goal,
one must have a bigger spirit

ok, I hope what I translated is close to what he scribbled cos my mandarin is really BAD. never get good grade for mandarin during my schooling days.

There are a lot of graphical photos taken during the war. But I shall spare you the agony. Some photos are really heart-wrenching. And my blog is a happy blog. 'x'

there's alot of parks nearby these buildings. And most of them are packed with people.

Just chatting and loitering, doing nothing, under the VERY HOT SUN. How can they tahan??!!

Baby Gaby

My dear friend Jaqq has become a mama last Saturday!
I visited baby Gaby the next day. I somehow forgot to take photo of her with my HP. 'x'!!!
But even if I had the photo, I think I should let the proud parents to show Gaby off to the world first. Right? right?right?

But I wonder though, when will they update their blog with Gaby's photo. (Their last post was a belated xmas post!'x'!!!)

But since I saw Gaby, touched Gaby, saw Gaby smiled (yes! she smiled when her mama touched her little nose, how cuteeeee)I am happy enough,
